Goodbye Montreuil!
15/03/2015

This gold medal brings us to the end of this fifth Make Up Forever Open. Thank you all of you for having following us all over these three days.

We will see you next year with, once again, the very best of the world synchronized swimming.

See you soon!

Ukraine is big!
15/03/2015

Third and last afternoon of this Open Make Up Forever 2015. The stands are crowded, Raoul is on fire and the speaker has no trouble to bring life to the nautical center.

No surprises in this contest, just the confirmation that Ukraine is becoming a major country in the world of synchronized swimming.

From the first lift they did, you could see that we will watch a breathtaking performance. Mastered figures, precision and a lot of energy was the seed of another gold medal for the Ukrainian team. Definitely, Ukraine will be a tough challenger for this season (90.7333).

Swimming right after the Ukrainian high level performance was nothing easy for the French girls. Cheered on by the whole crowd of the nautical center, the girls respond perfectly with a subtlety program mix of grace and expertise (85.4667).

The Argentinian performance, with a Michael Jackson theme, was well paced and very exciting. They easily claim the bronze medal (78.4667).

Carbonnel again and again!
15/03/2015

Here we are, last afternoon of this fifth Make Up Forever Open with the solo free routine final.

After the great show they gave us yesterday, the Spanish Carbonnel and Ukrainian Voloshyna had an important meeting with the Free Solo Final. The French side was hoping a good performance from her swimmer Margaux Chrétien.

The least we can say is that the Catalan girl gave everything she had. A perfect mastery of her show, combined to a judicious music choice, was the perfect combo to conquer the heart of the audience first and later the judges (90.7667). Voloshyna, who swam just before her major opponent, was not able to give a general impression as good as yesterday and will have to wait to win a fourth gold medal (89.7667).

The French swimmer, Margaux Chrétien, confirms her progress in the solo routines and complete the podium with a bronze medal.

Find all the results on the official website of the competition.

Ukraine keeps harvesting
15/03/2015

First trial of the day, the team technical routine with eight teams in the race: Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France, Indonesia, Italy, Singapore and Ukraine.

After having already winning two gold medals and one silver, the Ukrainians kept their royal march on the French Open by adding to it a new golden metal.

Despite some imperfections, especially in the alignments, Ukraine, has attracted the jury with a very rhythmic choreography in a style reminiscent of the Russian school (86.6159).

European nations have dominated the contest, since the four participating teams hold the first four places. The Spanish and the Italian teams complete the podium.

General classification:

1: Ukraine

2: Spain

3: Italy

4: France

5: Brazil

6: Argentina

7: Singapore

8: Indonesia

The Italian duet covered with gold
14/03/2015

First sign that shows us that this final is highly expected, the stands are crowded and the local Federation displays its famous mascot, Raoul. Jumps, hips movements, hands clapping, the frog will warm up the audience which will cheer up for each participant duet.

The Free Duet Final offered us a thrilling duel between the Italian and the French, respectively first and second of the preliminaries yesterday.

The contest took a bit of time to get its rhythm, but the last six duets entertained the whole crowd. If the American team is the first to light the fuse (81.3667), the do not last long at the head of the standings since they make dislodge by the French duet Augé-Chrétien (85.8333). The French girls just need to wait for the Italian duet to know if either they will come away with the gold medal or not. Unfortunately for “Les Bleues”, the Italian “Sweet Dreams” captivated the judging panel with its “mechanical robot” style, well controlled and very impressive to see (88.1667).

Final podium:

1: Italy

2: France

3: Greece

Carbonnel and Voloshyna above the others!
14/03/2015

We could not wait to see the duel between the Spanish Carbonnel and the Ukrainian Voloshyna. This hope did not lead us to disappointment as both swimmers smashed the competition ending respectively at the first (90.5333 for Carbonnel) and second place (90 for Voloshyna). The Spanish was wise enough to add some new tricks to her 2014 program and earn a short lead against Voloshyna.

Margaux Chrétien from France got the third spot (85.5667) performing with a soft mix of power and control.

The qualified for the final tomorrow are:

Carbonnel (ESP), Voloshyna (UKR), Chrétien (FRA), Brandl and the Alexandri twins (AUT), Popova (RUS), Sanchez (ARG), Maltsev (RUS), Petrishcheva (RUS), Guermoud and Slonina (FRA).

Voloshyna again and again!
14/03/2015

First trial of the day: the technical solo with once again a Ukrainian presence on the top of the podium. As she won the gold medal yesterday during the Technical Duo, Voloshyna’s hunger for victory was not satisfied as she wins this technical solo trial. With a score of 88.4532, she came out ahead of world synchronized swimming rising star: Canadian Jacqueline Simoneau. The 2014 Vice-world champion secured a silver medal by defeating Italian Cerruti by a tight difference (82.8367 and 82.5995).

All the results of this Technical Solo trial.

Presentation of the second day
14/03/2015

Good morning everybody

Back to the Montreuil swimming pool with another tremendous day.

First trial of the day, the solo technical routine, starts at 09:00 am. We are wainting a good actuation by the Ukrainian Voloshyna who will fight for the first place against the Italian Cerruti or the Argentinian Sanchez.

This afternoon the competition will follow with two trials: the solo free routine preliminary and the final of the duo free routine.

In the first trial we will have a close look to the battle between the Spanish Carbonell and the Ukrainian Voloshyna. For the last trial of the day, we hope that the French couple Chrétien-Auge will repeat their German performance of last week in Bonn as they won the gold medal.

Be sure you will not miss anything of the best of the world synchronized swimming.

Golden China to win the combination ballet
13/03/2015

Without any representatives for the duet routine this afternoon, the Chinese girls brought to light why they could be consider as the queens of the world synchronized swimming. Even though they came for the third time with the same routine, they were able to easily convince the judges why golden spot belongs to them.

Ukraine, who wanted to affirm its status as a rising nation, managed to get the public’s support with a high-level performance punctuated with tremendous lift. Unfortunately it was not enough to get the gold medal (90.6).

Brazil, who wins a well-deserved bronze medal, complete the podium.

The final classification:

1: China

2: Ukraine

3: Brazil

4: France

5: Argentina

6: Indonesia

Free Duet Preliminary
13/03/2015

Life at the Montreuil swimming pool goes on, and this afternoon the girls competed to qualify for the final of the Duet Free Routine.

Without the participation of Ukraine, Ananasova and Voloshyna, and Spain, Carbonnel and Klamburg, the Italian duet did not pass up the opportunity to seize the vacant throne. Awarded with a mark of 86.8667, they came out ahead of the French duet Augé-Chrétien (85.7000). The Greek duet keeps on impressing the jury with a promising third place (83.5667).

At 18:30 the Combination competition.

Ukraine gets the first spot
13/03/2015

First trial of the day, the duet technical routine, and first winner, the Ukrainians Ananasova and Voloshyna.

Second last year, the Ukrainians came back with a highly dominated choreography, mixed of power and grace, which made them the high sensation of this morning. The Ukrainians get ahead of the Spanish Carbonnel and Klamburg with a narrow lead (87.6171 against 87.5889).

The podium is completed by the Italian duo (84.1060).

Cheered up by their first place at the Bonn Open last week, the French duo, Augé-Chrétien, failed to repeat his German performance. Although driven by the local audience the girls could not do better than a fifth place with a score of 83.5398.

The next event will take place at 13:30.

16/03/2013

We will see you next year with, once again, the very best of the world synchronized swimming.

See you soon!

The free ballet
16/03/2013

Third and last afternoon of this Open Make Up Forever 2013. The stands are crowded, Raoul is on fire and the speaker has no trouble to bring life to the nautical center.

Let’s start with the traditional team’s parade. The participants are: France, Russia, China and Japan.

First to start, the Japanese bring the level very high with a score of 92.7625. The youth girls from St-Petersburg need a bit more of experience to compete in such a senior Open (77.0875). The Chinese from Jiangsu displayed a really well prepared show, but it is not enough to overtake Japan (92.7250). Last team to dive, France, supported by the whole stands, cannot compete against the Asians. With a score of 86.6625, they get the third position of this trial, and win the second French medal of this Open.

The final classification:

1: Japan

2: China (Jiangsu)

3: France

4: Russia (St-Petersburg)

Carbonell is from another planet
16/03/2013

Here we are, last afternoon of this third Make Up Forever Open with the solo free routine fnal.

After a dominated preliminary routine, the Spanish Carbonell was chasing for the golden medal. To do so she had to beat a though opposition, the Japanese Inui and Cerruti from Italy.

First of the favorites to dive in to the swimming pool, the Catalan gave everything she had to assure the first position of this contest. She even improved her rate (93.6525) from yesterday and finished ahead of the Japanese Inui (92.0250)

For her debut in a solo trial, the Spanish impressed everybody and confirms that she is the queen of the synchronized swimming. The podium is completed by the Italian Cerruti (86.6250) and at the fourth place the Fench Estel-Anais Hubaud.

The podium:

O. Carbonell (Spain)

Y. Inui (Japan)

L. Cerruti (Italia)

Final of the team technical routine
16/03/2013

First trial of the day, the team technical routine with four teams engaged: France, China Shanghai, China Jiangsu and Russia St-Petersburg.

The rule is clear; a country cannot have two teams on the podium. So with three different countries, the main interest of this trial is to know the order of the podium.

The two teams from China were the two main contenders for the gold medal. With a mark of 89.5775, the Shanghai girls get the first position, ahead of their compatriots from Jiangsu (88.8575), who are out of the podium. A good opportunity for France (85.1050) and Russia (a poor 75.6425) who were awarded with their first medals of this competition.

The podium:

China (Shanghai)

France

Russia

The duet free routine final
15/03/2013

First sign that shows us that this final is highly expected, the stands are crowded and the local Federation displays its famous mascot, Raoul. Jumps, hips movements, hands clapping, the frog will warm up the audience which will cheer up for each participant duet.

First news of this final, the level rise a bit up as Switzerland finished with a better rate than yesterday (84.4750). But once again the sensation came from the Spanish duet which worm up the audience with an impressive show. The tango music gave to this performance a good mix of lightness and grace. At the end of this routine, Spain is the temporary leader. Indeed in the previous show the Japanese could not do better than yesterday, and came out at the second position with rate of 92.0500.

Right after the Spanish show it was the turn of the French duet Chrétien-Auge to swim. Even if they were helped by the cheers of the audience, the French routine could not do better than yesterday and concede a lower rate (86.2500). They even got a bit scared when the Italian almost took the temporary third place (86.1375).

But all of this was before the entrance of the very best of this trial, the Chinese from Sichuan. The Jiang twins impressed everybody with another well controlled routine. They finished on the top of the podium with a high rate of 94.4250. Once again the Chinese national anthem will be played at the swimming pool of Montreuil.

The final podium:

1: China (Sichuan)

2: Spain

3: Japan

Solo free routine preliminary
15/03/2013

Once again this trial showed us how Inui (Japan) and Carbonell (Spain) dominate this Open. As she was the first of the two to start, the Spaniard took the lead with a good run (92.6125) and relegated the Italian Cerruti at the second position (86.5625) at the ranking.

The competition goes on and none seems to be able to contest the Catalan leadership, none except…Inui. Even though she did a good impression, the Japanese could not contest the first position and came out as a strong runner up (90.6000).

For the French side the opposition was maybe too difficult to reach the podium. However Estel-Anais Hubaud did well and will represent France in the final after a promising fourth place (83.7750).

The qualified:

Andorra, Germany, Italy, France (Hubaud), Spain, Monaco, Russia St-Petersburg (Zubanova), Japan, Argentina and Sweden.

Inui again and again
15/03/2013

Three trials and yet two medals and a qualification for a final, that is the impressive results of the Japanese Inui. After getting the bronze medal in the duet free routine, the girl from Omihachiman dominated the first trial of the day. She finishes at the first place of this solo technical routine with a remarkable rate of 90.4855. Far behind her we have the Italian Cerruti (84.4584) and the Argentinian Sanchez (80.3333).

Good morning everybody
15/03/2013

Back to the Montreuil swimming pool with another tremendous day.

First trial of the day, the solo technical routine, starts at 10:00 am. Once again the Japanese Inui will fight for the podium, but she should beware of two particular opponents, the Argentinian Sanchez and the Italian Cerruti.

This afternoon the competition will follow with two trials: the preliminary of the solo free routine and the final of the duo free routine.

In the first trial we will have a close look to the battle between the Spanish Carbonell and the Japanese Inui. For the last trial of the day, we hope that the French couple Chrétien-Auge will repeat their performance of yesterday. But it makes no doubt that the victory will goes to either Spain (Carbonell-Crespi) or China Sichuan (the Jiang twins).

Be sure you will not miss anything of the best of the world synchronized swimming.

The ballet
14/03/2013

Last trial of the day with the ballet.

This impressive teamwork gathers ten swimmers who have to compose choreography and need to stick to the spirit of the selected song.

Once again the Chinese showed who the bosses are. Japan started well, with a good controlled of the show, but that was before China get to swim.

As soon as they were in the water, the Chinese imposed a high rhythm and gave the public to enjoy what synchronized swimming is. It was four minutes and half of pure pleasure to see these women operating like that.

With a final rate of 93.6125, China is ahead of Japan (92.6375), Czech Republic (83.4125) and far behind these three teams we find the Russian deception with a low score of 78.000.

The duet free routine
14/03/2013

Life at the Montreuil swimming pool goes on, and this afternoon the girls competed to qualify for the final of the Duet Free Routine.

As life goes on, the Chinese from Sichuan keep on dominating their rivals. They finished first, and even if they had to struggle to beat Spain, here they are again at the top of the podium. At the third place, the same as in the first trial: Japan. But the sensation of the day came from one of the French duet (L. Auge and M. Chretien). For their first appearance in a duet trial, the two girls impressed everybody with a huge performance and finished at a promising fourth place.

The teams qualified for the final:

China (Shanghai), Spain, Japan, France (both duets), Italy, Czech Republic, Switzerland (both duets), Argentina, Germany and Russia (St-Petersburg).

The Chinese impressed the judges.
14/03/2013

First trial of the day, the duet technical routine and first winner the Chinese from Sichuan.

As they appeared with their sophisticated headdress and swimsuit, the Jiang twins directly impressed the jury’s. To this first good impression they added a highly dominated choreography, mixed of power and grace, which made them the high sensation of this morning. They beat their Spanish rivals with a half point lead.

Even if she is not anymore with her partner of the last Olympics, it seems that Ona Carbonell found a good successor with Margalida Crespi. After an impressive performance, the girls from Spain came out as a good contender for China. The podium is completed by Japan, with the two swimmers Inui and Adachi.

If we compare these 2013 scores with the ones from last year, it is interesting to notice that the level, this year, seems to be higher. Indeed as today the Chinese from Shanghai finished at the fourth place with a performance rated by a good 89.5375. Last year with the same score, they would have got the gold medal of this duet technical routine.

The competition keeps on with the duet free routine.

Welcome to the third Open Make Up Forever
14/03/2013

Here we are, first day of this 2013 Open Make Up Forever at the Maurice Thorez nautical center in Montreuil.

Today, three trials.

First event of the day the final of the Duet Technical routine with two Olympics medalists attending, the Spanish Ona Carbonell and the Chinese Xuechen Huang. Winner of the 2012 Open, the Japanese Inui will defend her title with her new partner, Yumi Adachi. The main contenders for the podium will be Spain, Japan and Chine. However they should keep in mind the 2012 Czech Republic performance, when Bernadova and Dufkova get the bronze medal after an unexpected top level routine.

This afternoon the contest will keep on with the duet, but this time it will be the qualification for the free routine. The local public will certainly cheer up for the two couples engaged in this trial.

This first day will end with the free routine combination final. These trials involve ten swimmers in the same team and combine various tricks (solo, duo, trio and team). The favorites of the day are Japan, China (Shanghai) and Russia.

We remind you that you can watch the entire competition on live with Dailymotion.
